We distributed a 25 kg bag of rice, canned fish, noodles, water, and a $2.50 cash gift (10,000 riel) per family.
The board was humbled by the generous outpouring of support for our recent appeal for nutritional support for our students, families and local villagers in Mongkol Borei. As you know, COVID-19 has severely impacted the Cambodian economy, especially in rural provinces such as where our school is located.
The money you contributed has made a difference. Thanks to you, more than 375 families will have basic staples that will last approximately three weeks. The event took place on our campus over September 21-23, 2021.
We are so grateful to our dedicated faculty and leaders principal Dara Pei, vice principal Chenla Saiman, and operations manager Reaksa Sok for their excellent organization of this event. There was a lot of extra effort involved with this initiative, from getting local government permission and participation to having health workers and security on site to ensure everyone's safety. They managed the food purchases, coordinated the entire faculty to support the event, and managed the safe and orderly distribution of the food.
We can't say it enough, but thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and continued support of The Cambodia Academy!
