For many supporters of The Cambodia Academy, the desire to help vulnerable children extends far beyond today. The Cambodia Academy’s Legacy Initiative is a long-term effort to ensure that high-quality education remains available to rural Cambodian children not just today, but decades from now.
Including The Cambodia Academy in your estate plans is a powerful way to ensure that the school can continue its mission for decades to come. Legacy gifts help provide long-term stability, allowing us to support students with tuition, transportation, meals, school supplies, and the educational programs that prepare them for meaningful futures
This initiative is not a single gift or financial vehicle. Instead, it offers flexible pathways—aligned with personal financial goals, family priorities, and philanthropic vision—that allow donors to move from supporting students to stewarding the mission itself. There are many ways to make a legacy gift, including charitable bequests in a will or trust, beneficiary designations, retirement accounts, or other planned giving arrangements. These gifts can often be structured in ways that benefit both the school and your family.
For estate planning purposes, legacy gifts supporting The Cambodia Academy may be directed to the Academy’s charitable trust, which helps ensure the long-term sustainability of the school. If you wish to include The Cambodia Academy in your will or estate plan, the following language may be helpful for your attorney or advisor:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to The Cambodia Academy (or its charitable trust), the sum of $_______ or _____% of my estate to be used for its general charitable purposes.”
There are several kinds of legacy gifts that you can consider:

Life insurance policy designation: Naming The Cambodia Academy as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.

Real estate: a gift of real estate to The Cambodia Academy may remove a large taxable asset from your estate, which will receive the benefit of an income tax deduction equal to the appraised fair market value of the property, with no capital gains tax due on the transfer.

Charitable Remainder Trusts and Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts: Products that provide income during your lifetime and then distribute the remaining funds to the charity.
